HOW TO LIVE GUIDE: PRACTICAL

I have lived a life full of chaos and without a clear purpose. I simply followed my abundant interests, yet rarely made real progress or completed projects, if I even finished them at all. I often feel like a loose cannon, lacking structure, which leaves me with a sense of emptiness and despair. I could go on, but in short: things need to change.

To implement this much-needed change, I spent considerable time reflecting on what I truly want to achieve and strive for, gently and intentionally. From this reflection, I identified seven pillars that I want to build my life upon. I also realized that I desperately need habits aligned with these pillars, not only to make steady progress, but also to focus my wandering and restless mind, which is always seeking escape or pleasure rather than purposeful living.

Next, I will briefly introduce my seven pillars, with links to other blog posts for deeper insights into why I focus on each of them. These links provide more context behind the practical steps I take in this journey.

The journey to a more guided approach truly begins here, and over time I will add more details about practical habits and experiences. I will update this post periodically. Anything in italics reflects my thoughts and observations about how the process unfolds.

The ultimate goal is to practice these things until they become second nature, habits so integrated into my daily life that I no longer need to optimize them. Once I reach that point, I will move the related knowledge into another post called Past Journeys and label them accordingly. The more past journeys I accumulate, the lighter and easier life should feel, allowing me to focus on new areas of growth, deeper insights, and enhanced ways of living.

MEDITATION

more background information can be found in: Meditation as Liberation

I want to establish a daily meditation routine, with sessions of 10 minutes each—one after waking up and one before going to sleep. Since I don’t yet have many ideas on how to structure these sessions, I will turn to Mastering Successful Work: Skillful Means by Tarthang Tulku. In this book, Tulku provides practical exercises and guidance on meditation. I will also summarize the book’s insights under the Meditation section in my “How to Live Guide: Ideas & Insights” post (see above for the link).
